About Me

Tobias Zuser, PhD, is currently Lecturer at the Department of Cultural Studies at Lingnan University, the Global Studies Programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the David C. Lam Institute for East West Studies at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He is also a Fellow at the Asia Research Institute of Nottingham University. Tobias is the founder of offside.hk. He regularly appears as commentator at RTHK Radio 3, and co-hosts the bi-weekly Hong Kong Football Podcast.

Tobias obtained his PhD in Sociology of Sport and Cultural Studies at the Department of Humanities & Creative Writing, Hong Kong Baptist Universtity.

Research focus: convergence of sporting culture, arts, cultural policy, sports policy, politics, creative industries, football culture and subculture in Hong Kong and China

Other degrees: Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Cultural Studies (Lingnan University, Hong Kong); Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sports, Culture, and Event Management (Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, Austria)

Non-academic working experience: 4+ years as arts administrator, consultant and event manager in Berlin and Beijing
